“I am honored to receive the ‘Hero of the Rally’ award at one of the most prestigious events like Mille Miglia UAE rally. This recognition is a testament to my passion for preserving automotive heritage and celebrating the timeless beauty of these classic cars,” remarked Poonawalla.
Racing Through History: The 1974 Jaguar E-Type Roadster
Returning to the Mille Miglia UAE rally for the third consecutive year, Poonawalla showcased his recently restored 1974 Jaguar E-Type Roadster Series III, a car of unparalleled beauty and engineering. Painted in a striking ravishing red with a black top, the car is powered by a 5.3-litre V12 engine.
“This was the first major race for the ‘big cat’ under my ownership following its recent nut-and-bolt restoration. Driving it through the breathtaking UAE landscapes, especially the climb and descent of the Jebal Jais mountains, was exhilarating,” he added.

Later gifted to Mother Teresa and subsequently auctioned for charity, the car now resides in the Poonawalla collection, restored to its original grandeur.
Other remarkable vehicles in his collection include:
- A 1933 Phantom II once owned by Sir Malcolm Campbell.
- A 1937 Phantom III that belonged to Maharaja Panchkote.
- A 1962 Phantom V of the Emir of Qatar.
- A 1979 Phantom VI, used by HM Queen Elizabeth II.
